Digging Deep Project featured at University of Regina’s Community Research Showcase

Digging Deep Project Presentation Team

Carolyn Pelletier, Natalie Owl, and Carrie Bourassa attended the University of Regina’s Community Research Showcase on November 6th to share the progress, and process, of the Digging Deep research. They presented a powerpoint alongside many other academics and community partners who gave illuminating presentations on the ongoing research in the Regina area. You can see these projects here, and the Digging Deep presentation here.

The process of undertaking community-based research is always started in a good way. The Digging Deep Project began with ceremony, including the making of tobacco ties for the study’s participants. The tobacco ties are wrapped, blessed, and then given to participants as a gift in thanks for the sharing of their knowledge.

In the picture below, Elder Betty McKenna is seen leading the team in the process at the First Nations University of Canada. Elder Betty is the guiding Elder on the Digging Deep Project.
